I decree that all articles featuring Hyundai “luxury” sedans prior to the Genesis spin off will use the phrase, “Before the Beginning, there was...”

Also, I request that we all feint outrage when Hyundai tells us that the Genesis Brand SUV lineup will be designated XG . Now I know we’ll be honestly outraged because it’s too similar to Volvo, which is runner up to Mazda when it comes to that sweet, sweet Oppo lovin’. But I would like to suggest that we riot over the XG nameplate being bastardized into a pack of lifted hatchbacks. What do you mean you don’t remember the XG Sedan?! We had the 3rd gen model from 2001 until 2005 in the US. It’s not like I’m asking you to remember the 2004 Mitsubishi Diamante or something.

Anyways, I just wanted to point out that Hyundai used this vehicle’s “styling” as a halo for all the other Hyundai models up until 2010. But if you have wondered what the secret to Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 is, the secret is adding a touch of XG derived styling. Do you see it?!! You have to accommodate for modernity bros and bro-ettes!

You know what this means right? Kia will be rolling out the Amanti brand soon in order to do battle with Buick, Acura, and current Lincoln. Kia Amantis are about to double in value and be worth a cool grand in twelve years (because hertitage?). *Sound of tens of tens of Amanti owners rejoicing*

So the Hierarchy will be:

Genesis Brand - Mercedes, Lexus, Volvo
Amanti Brand - Acura, Lincoln, Buick
Hyundai Brand - Toyota, Honda, Nissan
Kia Brand - Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler

Nah, I’m messing around. But Kia is supposed to be coming out with that 4-door coupe concept from around 3 years ago. Got to do something since they can’t take the Hyundai brand upmarket and Kia is growing into the exact same position instead of being stuck as the successful version of Scion.

Nah it’s not that low. Including myself, there are at least eight Amantis within a 50 mile radius of the city. If there were fewer cars on the roads then the vehicle would actually become interesting.

Though I joke around, I do enjoy the bitch when it’s out of the kennel.

I keep expecting Hyundai to finally make a clean break from their heritage of imitating other brands, I was hoping the rebrand would be it. Sadly the naming scheme carries the legacy.
